Living Through Historical Times
Posted January 1st, 2009 by adminIn reflecting on 2008, it is an understatement to say that it was a difficult year. It will most likely go down in history as the year the “mortgage crisis” hit our economy triggering a global financial crisis, as well as, the year we elected our first African-American President. Before long the chronological number, 2008, will slip into forgetfulness, but all of us will remember where we were and what we were doing the day the “bubble burst” or the night Barrack Obama became President-Elect of the United States. This is the way we denote significant historical events we live through.
One can tell much about the character of an organization and its people by the way in which they cope with these “historical” times. In living through this uncertain time with you, I have come to admire your calm, your courage and your commitment to Christ and each other. I am proud to be a part of you in this time.
I have a half dozen snow globes in my office, but no crystal ball among them to tell the future. Let’s go into 2009 together, nurturing and caring for each other trusting that whatever comes we have each other and the presence of Christ with us. We just might find peace and plenty along the way.
Have a Happy New Year,
Steve
