WELCOME TO THE MUSIC PROGRAM AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
We have many opportunities for you to participate in different musical groups and use your talents to praise God. Find the group that fits your talents and come to rehearsal!
Senior Choir
This group is for adults young and old who love to sing. We participate in the worship service singing and anthem and service music every Sunday from the September through June. The Choir rehearses every Thursday night from 7:30pm-8:30pm. There is no audition for this group. We only ask that you be able to sing, smile and laugh, and desire to use your musical gifts in the worship of our Lord. Come to rehearsal if this group is for you!
Sound of Chimes
Our Sounds of Chimes Choir meets on Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The church has a three octave set of Schulmerich Handbells and a three octave set of Suzuki Handchimes, and the choir uses both the bells and the chimes. The group participates in worship about once every four or five weeks and often one or two members of the group will accompany the hymns using the bells. New members are always welcome in this choir and our only requirement is that you be able to laugh and enjoy yourself.
Jubilate Choir
Jubilate Choir is for youth in grades 5 through 12. The choir rehearses after church on Sunday morning in the music room. The rehearsals last for an hour and ½ hour is spent playing the handchimes and handbells and ½ hour is spent singing. This group participates in worship about once a month. They have also put on a musical and have visited various nursing homes. The chance to participate in worship gives a young person a marvelous opportunity to grow in his/her faith. The choir is open to all youth in the appropriate age group…..so just join us!
Children’s Choir
Children’s Choir is open to all children in grades K-4. They meet every Sunday from 11am-11:30 am in the Wendell House under the direction of Virginia LaRose. These children are introduced to the rudiments of group singing and participate in worship several times a year. They have also been a part of our musical and our talent show. Again, children grow in their faith when they are a part of worship so…please encourage your child to be a member of this group.
