STEWARDSHIP SEASON

Contrary to common belief, balancing next year’s budget is not the priority goal of the stewardship season. On the contrary, balancing the budget is merely a by-product of stewardship’s primary goal of reflecting on the gifts God has bestowed upon us, as well as, the relationships with which we have been blessed. (Relationships are gifts as well.) Having discerned those gifts and relationships, how do we employ those gifts to serve both God and one another? Like the Good Shepherd, how do we shepherd that with which we are blessed? As you discern your gifts and talents, please be as generous in sharing those gifts, talents, time and monies as God has been in bestowing them.

Pledge information has been mailed to your homes, but if you need additional information, please contact the church office. There are pledge cards in the pew pockets for your convenience, also. Please be sure to include your name and address.

Last minute contributions for 2009 must be in the church office by December 31, 2009, or must be mailed to the church with a postmark no later than December 31. There is no “grace period” for this with the IRS!

Contribution Envelopes for 2009

Contribution envelopes will be available following worship on December 14th. They will be in the Board Room in alphabetical order. If you received a box of envelopes last year and didn’t use them, you have been assigned a “box-less” number in an effort to cut down on waste and expense. If you have not been assigned a numbered box and would like to have weekly contribution envelopes to use for your convenience (and Candy’s), let Candy know by calling the office. PLEASE DO NOT USE ENVELOPES FROM A PREVIOUS YEAR AS MANY NUMBERS HAVE BEEN REASSIGNED FOR 2009! Your “old” or previous number may have been given to someone else.

Stewardship Drive

Stewardship season is a season for personal discernment. It begins with each one of us celebrating our relationship with Almighty God. It continues with us looking at our relationship with God and identifying all the wonderful gifts God has bestowed upon us. It is a time when we rediscover the talents God has built into us. In the acknowledgment of all that God has done for us, we are strengthened and encouraged with a desire to give back to God in response to all that we have received. During this stewardship season may you rediscover yourself and, in all your wonder, rededicate yourself to Almighty God.
