Early in the New Year the Session will begin a five to six month church mission study. We are fortunate this year to be able to participate in a pilot project of the General Assembly called New Beginnings. The consultant/assessor who will guide us through this process will be the Reverend Philip Lotspeich, Coordinator for Church Growth of the General Assembly Mission Council.

The Reverend Lotspeich will be on site on Thursday, January 6, 2011. He would like to meet and speak with as many of us as possible on his initial visit here. He will meet with the Trustees concerning our buildings, our financial folk, receive a windshield tour of the village and town, have dinner with the pastor, and most importantly, at 7:00 p.m., would like to meet as many of us as possible in the sanctuary for a time of “Appreciative Inquiry.” Please, mark your calendars and plan to join us for this event.

It is important every few years to take a reflective look at where we are as a community of faith in order for us to discern where God might be leading us as we live into the future. Doing this requires the active participation of us all, as well as prayer for God’s guidance and wisdom throughout this process. I look forward to both being in prayer with you throughout this process and seeking God’s will for our future.

Steve

The Session is seeking a “couple good people” to represent them in the community. If you have a few hours to assist these worthy organizations please contact Steve or any of your Elders.

The CROP Walk Committee will be meeting at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8th. This group will plan and carry out this year’s annual CROP Walk on Sunday, October 17th. Primary responsibility of this person is to be a liaison between the committee and our church in promoting the CROP Walk.

For many years we have sponsored a Cub Scout Pack in the village. We have received a request from the Revolutionary Trails Council, BSA, to appoint a representative from the congregation to work with them in providing this scouting program. If you are interested in working with young people and would like to work with the Boy Scout program, please contact Steve for further details regarding this opportunity.

With the winter weather approaching parking spaces at the rear of the church are limited. These spaces, which are alongside the Meeting House, should be reserved for those who have difficulty walking ling distances. There is a new handicapped door entrance, without stairs, at the “garage-end” for easy access to the Meeting House. In addition to this rear parking area, occasional parking on the grass between the Wendell House and Meeting House driveways should be reserved as additional parking for people with special needs. Please be considerate of others and avoid parking in these spaces unless you have specific need of them. Please DO NOT park within 20 feet of the pathway between the Wendell House and office annex driveways. Always be cautious of our young children when driving in these areas.
